Subject: Learner’s Profile

Activities done this week          

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that was explained this week was being OPEN-MINDED. It means to be receptive about new ideas and things about other people and their beliefs. It was a great to see the children being little inquirers putting on their thinking caps by learning about the characteristics of cultures, understanding them and looking at them through broader perspective,  children were very excited and enthusiastic to find out more about their culture.

Upcoming activities / HW:

It was a great pleasure to see the students enjoying the activities in class. The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that was explained this week was being OPEN-MINDED. TOPIC:-  CULTURE

CENTRAL IDEA:-   People’s cultural background has an impact on their beliefs, values and actions.

LINES OF INQUIRY:-  

1. What constitutes culture.(Forms=> How is it like?)
2. How people use different experiences to inform their perspectives.(Perspective=>What are the points of view?)
3. The connections between beliefs and values, and the actions taken in response to them -.(Connection=>How is it connected to other things?)

Tuning In:-

1. Children were tuned in to the unit Culture through the discussion on the theme-Who we are.
2. Students did the Breakup of the central idea for better understanding of the unit.
3. Videos were shown to students for the introduction to the unit and identification of elements of Culture.

LARGE NUMBERS:-

1. Learnt 3 & 4 times tables and did a quiz on it.
2. Mental math with Ten Quick Questions.

MEP:-

1. Students started with Subtraction(mind map, place value, number names, expanded form, in horizontal position as well)

MEASUREMENT:-

1. Assessment in measurement of length.

1. Introduction to time (hours, days, weeks, months, or years, through birthday graph, festivals activities to learn about months).
2. Assessment in hours, days, weeks, months and  years through task-sheet conducted.

Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week:The learner profile which was focussed this week was

“Inquirer” as the students inquired about different animals.

Upcoming activities / HW:

Subject: EVS

Activities done this week: 1. New unit “Animals” was introduced.

2. Students had a nature walk near the school. They observed few animals and

identified them.

3. Students were asked about pets they have at home and were able to

categorize

them as pet animals.

Upcoming activities/ HW:   Help your child learning more animals through

stories or books.

Subject: Math

Activities done this week:

1. Oral counting from 1-15 was done.

4. Students recited the number rhymes.

5.New shape”oval” was introduced.

This helped students develop early math skills, spatial awareness.

Subject: English

Activities done this week: 1.Students recited the “ABCD” song using sound modules and actions.

2. Action commands in karadi were taken: swim like a fish, hop like a rabbit, fly like a bird.

3. Students recapitulated lower case letters with their phonics and

with their related objects and they did tracing in tarjani book.

4. Letter “Oo” was introduced along with the objects.

5.We are focussing on lower case letters with phonics and objects.

This helped the students develop early reading, social, language,

cognitive, fine motor skills, communication skills & gross motor skills..

letters with phonics and its related pictures.

1. Students enjoyed various rhymes related to the animals like:

• Machli jal ki rani hai

• Bandar mama
• Five little monkeys.

This helped students develop language and communication skills.

o    Encourage areas of your child’s interest by visiting the library to

borrow books that explore these topics.

Title: Air

Central idea: understanding the properties of air allows people to make

practical applications.

Concepts: form, connection, reflection

Lines of inquiry:  

·         The evidence of the existence of air

·         What air can do and how we use it

·         The relationship between air, light and  sound

Activities done this week:  

Students  did a fish bone activity to show cause and effect of air pollution,demonstrated

their understanding in FA2, got a deeper understanding of the topic through the guest lecture

by Mr. Mumeed, selected experiments for S. A and demonstrated in the class.

Upcoming activities/ HW: Complete the worksheet given.

Activities done this week:   

Students did activities related to arrays, enjoyed the quiz on multiplication

tables, learned to write the tables through repeated addition.

Upcoming activities/ HW: Write multiplication table of 4 in your notebook.

Listening & Speaking: Students listened to the stories

in the read aloud sessions.

Reading: Read self selected stories in magic pot and story books.

Writing: Students were introduced to syllables, enjoyed finding out

number of syllables in their names and other words.

dish in your grammar notebooks.
