Subject: Learner’s Profile

Activities done this week          

The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that was explained this week was being OPEN-MINDED. It means to be receptive about new ideas and things about other people and their beliefs. It was a great to see the children being little inquirers putting on their thinking caps by learning about the characteristics of cultures, understanding them and looking at them through broader perspective,  children were very excited and enthusiastic to find out more about their culture.

Upcoming activities / HW:

It was a great pleasure to see the students enjoying the activities in class. The LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTE that was explained this week was being OPEN-MINDED. Activities done this week:

THEME:-   Who we ae

TOPIC:-  CULTURE

CENTRAL IDEA:-   People’s cultural background has an impact on their beliefs, values and actions.

LINES OF INQUIRY:-  

1. What constitutes culture.(Forms=> How is it like?)
2. How people use different experiences to inform their perspectives.(Perspective=>What are the points of view?)
3. The connections between beliefs and values, and the actions taken in response to them -.(Connection=>How is it connected to other things?)

LEARNING ENGAGEMENTS:

Tuning In:-

1. Children were tuned in to the unit Culture through the discussion on the theme-Who we are.
2. Students did the Breakup of the central idea for better understanding of the unit.
3. Videos were shown to students for the introduction to the unit and identification of elements of Culture.

LARGE NUMBERS:-

1. Learnt 3 & 4 times tables and did a quiz on it.
2. Mental math with Ten Quick Questions.

MEP:-

1. Students started with Subtraction(mind map, place value, number names, expanded form, in horizontal position as well)

MEASUREMENT:-

1. Assessment in measurement of length.

TIME:-

1. Introduction to time (hours, days, weeks, months, or years, through birthday graph, festivals activities to learn about months).
2. Assessment in hours, days, weeks, months and  years through task-sheet conducted.

READING & WRITING:-

LISTENING & SPEAKING:-

    1. Teacher read out the books on different Cultures of India(circle time activity)

    2. Students enjoyed the story of Stuck.

GRAMMAR:-

1. Practice with examples for compound words work given in C.W.
2. Assessment in compound words taken.
3. Introduction to Alphabetical order done with examples and practice work.
4. Assessment in Alphabetical order conducted.
5. Introduction to Contractions with examples and class practice work.

  SPELL DRILL:-

1. Sight word spell quiz done.
