C4A Weekly Lesson Report

Weekly lesson report:03               Date: 25th-29th June 2018               Class:C4 A

Subject: Learner Profile            
Activities done this week:
IB Learner Profile Inquirer was focused. Students learnt to be Inquirers to learn new qualities and emulate it from different personalities.
Upcoming activities / HW:
IB Learner Profile Inquirer would be focused. Students will learn to be Inquirers to learn new qualities and emulate it from different personalities.

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry
Activities done this week:
  • Students were introduced to LOI-1. They watched a video about beliefs and values with some examples of attitudes and myths. They wrote some values by their own and rate them according to their understanding. They define and reflected about beliefs and values.
  • Students  completed the given task sheet. They wrote the meaning of a belief, character and integrity. They also wrote their personal thoughts about it. They  made sentences on how FHS reinforces values, beliefs character traits and integrity. Through this activity they interpreted their understanding about the beliefs, values, character traits and integrity.
  • Students read the given value cards and tried to understand the meaning of each card. They categorized and paste the value cards according to the most important and least important values through diamond ranking activity.
  • Students learnt about any characteristic of a person that differentiates
    levels of performance in a given job, role, organisation or culture through Iceberg activity. They analyzed the characteristics of a person.
  • Students wrote about what are their beliefs and what they think is important for them with the reason using iceberg. Students identified  their own beliefs and values.

Activities done this week: introduction to rounding of numbers was done.  Students were also made to practice place value activity using a place value model.

Activities done this week:
  • Students were given list of nouns and they found synonyms for the given nouns.
  • Students made a list of noun from the class and categorized them into common and proper noun and framed sentences on it.
  • Students were introduced to countable and uncountable nouns. They find countable and uncountable nouns from the class.
  • Students made sentences using countable and uncountable nouns.

Activities done this week:ا سماعیل میرٹھی کی پہلی کتاب کے اسباق پرھائے گئے اور ان  کی حمد کے ۵ شعر یاد کرنے کے لئے لکھوایا گی۔ ۔ ابتدائی کام کے طور پر بٹر پیپر کے اوپر مفرد اور مرکب حروف تہجی کی مشق کرائی گئی تاکی انہیں الفاظ میں خوبصورت طریقہ سے استعمال کر سکیں ۔ جن طلباء نے کام پورا کر لیا ہے وہ الفاظ کو مناسب انداز اور خوبصورت تحریر سے لکھنے لگے ہیں ۔ والدین اپنے بچوں سے اس کے متعلق ضرور پوچھیں ۔

Subject: Learner Profile            
Activities done this week: As the inquiry is in the finding out stage, the learner profile attribute  ‘Inquirer’ was mainly focused this week.
Upcoming activities / HW:
The learner profile attribute  ‘Communicator’ will be focused next week.
  • When working on mathematics homework, encourage your child to explain his/her answer to you orally.
  • Ask your child thought provoking questions and encourage them to discuss them with you. For example:
What would you do if you were scared of someone at school?
Is there anything you cannot buy with money?

Activities done this week: Students were made familiar with the unit vocabulary, watched videos to find out about signs and symbols, inquired about the signs & symbols on road, were engaged in quicker activity and drawing activity.

Students learned expanded form and standard form of 3 digit number
Students recapitulated the concept of comparing numbers,ascending order,descending numbers

Viewing & Presenting: Students watched  videos on the topic nouns and a few moral stories.
Listening & Speaking: Students listened to the stories ‘ three magic words’ and ‘Be kind’ in the read aloud sessions.
Reading: Read self selected short stories.
Writing: Students were introduced to the types of nouns through a graphic organizer, sorted the nouns into proper and common nouns through a game and other written activities.
Upcoming activities/ HW: Find out some common nouns and proper nouns in you house and write in the appropriate column.
Read the sentences given in the worksheet and carry out activities related to nouns.

Weekly lesson report:   3 Date:  25th - 29th June              Class: 1C
Subject: Learner Profile            
Activities done this week: students were active inquirers as they explored different emotions and good communicators as they communicated about their families and listened to their friends opinions and thoughts.
Upcoming activities / HW: next week students will practice being “principled” by exhibiting the trait to wait for their turn and raise their hand to speak. Students will also learn to be emotionally balanced by learning more about IB attitudes.

Central idea: Awareness of our characteristics, abilities and interests informs our learning and development.

Activities done this week: This week students learned the concept of place values - tens and ones.
  • they watched the place value song and used pencils to deduce meaning of the tens house and ones house in the place value.
  • base ten blocks were used to make numbers in groups.
  • students were able to apply their knowledge of place values to complete Firefly workbook.
  • formative assessment was conducted to check their understanding of place values and number names to solve given place value worksheet.
Upcoming activities/ HW: Complete the place value homework sent in firefly workbook.

Activities done this week:  
  • students understood opposites by watching the following opposites video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61vZ8KmIycs
  • children participated in an activity to paste cutouts of opposites on appropriate objects present on chart paper followed by writing the opposites in their notebooks
  • understanding of basic sight words was built by reading and writing the same in notebooks
  • students searched for sight words in word search worksheet.
