Weekly lesson report:    07 Date: 30th July - 3rd August                 Class: 5B

Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week:

Students continued to be Inquirers this week. They developed their natural curiosity, and acquired
the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research to show independence in learning.
They actively enjoyed learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.

Upcoming activities / HW:

The learner profile which will be followed next week will be Thinker. Thinkers exercise initiative in
applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and
make reasoned, ethical decisions.

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry

Activities done this week:

TRANSDISCIPLINARY THEME - Where we are in place and time.

Central idea:  Human migration is a response to challenges, risks and opportunities.

Lines of inquiry:

• The reasons why people migrate
• Migration throughout history
• Effects of migration on communities, cultures and individual.

Making Connections:

• Students were prepared for the class debate. They were asked to inquire on
• Brain drain in India, ask relevant questions and be quick thinkers for the rebuttal round.
• Students participated in a class debate and stood by their opinion on the topic
• “Brain Drain - Boon or Bane”

TRANSDISCIPLINARY THEME - How the world works.

Central idea:  Energy may be converted, transformed and used to support human progress.

Lines of inquiry:

• Different forms of energy sources (renewable and non-renewable)
• How energy is used (transformation)
• Sustainable energy practices

Tuning In:

• Students did ‘Breaking up of Central Idea’ to gain an understanding of the Central Idea.

Subject: Math

Activities done this week:

• The students were made to practise multiplication of Multi digit number by 2 digit number.
• Lattice Multiplication  method was also shown in the class.
• Multiplication and addition quiz was made to practise.
• Abacus was also made to practise.

Upcoming activities/ HW:

Problems based on multiplication given in C. W. Multiplication tables from 2- 12 to be learned by the
students

Subject: English

Activities done this week:  

Speaking:

Various activities were done to strengthen speaking skills in students. Students discussed stories of
family members who migrated to or from India. Students did a debate in Brain Drain - A Boon or Bane

Reading:

Students did a novel study on ‘Out of my Mind’ and empathised with the characters.
They made a character sketch of the lead character.

Writing:

Leveled task cards were assigned to students to check their comprehension skills.

Students wrote a journal entry about an imaginative incidence.

Persuasive Writing was done. Persuasive words and Sentence starters were discussed which
would give meaning and structure to an essay.

Complete the given worksheet. Read the comprehension passage and answer the questions that
follow.
