Subject: Learner Profile            

Activities done this week: As the inquiry is in the finding out stage, the learner profile attribute  ‘Inquirer’ was mainly focussed this week.

Upcoming activities / HW: The learner profile attribute  ‘Communicator’ will be focussed next week.

• When working on mathematics homework, encourage your child to explain his/her answer to you orally.
• Ask your child thought provoking questions and encourage them to discuss them with you. For example:

What would you do if you were scared of someone at school?

Is there anything you cannot buy with money?

Subject: Unit Of Inquiry

Theme: How we express ourselves

Central idea: A variety of signs and symbols facilitates local and global communication

Concepts: form, function, connection

Lines of inquiry:

• Specialised systems of communication

Activities done this week: Students presented their findings on chart  paper in the form of a graphic organizer about signs and symbols in  groups, were engaged in a group activity to identify the appropriate sign according to the definations read, inquired about  logos of some popular brands and the different types of communication and wrote question and answers about the same.

Upcoming activities/ HW:  Identify the given logos of some popular brands and write their names, imagine yourself as the company owner and design logos for the products in the given worksheet.

Subject: Math

Activities done this week:

Students revised  expanded form and standard form of 3 digit number and number names.

Students learned comparing and ordering 3 digit numbers

Students were made familiar with Abacus

Upcoming activities/ HW: Task sheet given

Subject: English

Activities done this week:  

Viewing & Presenting: Students watched  videos on the topic nouns and a few moral stories.

Listening & Speaking: Students listened to the stories ‘ three magic words’ and ‘Be kind’ in the read aloud sessions.

Reading: Read self selected rebus stories in magic pot.

Writing: Students wrote proper nouns for the given common nouns on their own, were introduced to the rebus stories, created rebus story on the topic winter, trees.

Upcoming activities/ HW: Read the given rebus story and write the story and draw the same,

Select any one story and create a rebus story.

Subject: Urdu

Activities done this week:تمام حروف تہجی  ’’ ا ‘‘ سے ’’ ے ‘‘ تک کے حروف کو اعراب ’’ پیش‘‘ (۔۔۔۔۔۔ُ۔۔۔۔۔) کے ساتھ لکھا اور پڑھا گیا اور اس سے علاوہ تمام اعراب  کو حروف کے ساتھ ملا کر گروپ میں آوازوں کے ساتھ پڑھتے ہوئے نیے الفاظ بنانا سکھا گیا۔                                                                                                                                                           Upcoming activities/ HW: https://youtu.be/b5iiSQoyxzo

Passed:  The festival of trees ‘Van mahotsav’ was celebrated this week, Students sang the song Neem , Peepal, Banyan… in the assembly.
Upcoming: PYP Prize day for the academic year 2017-18 is scheduled in the next week.
